Who inspires you?

All my instructors. They always come to class and encourage all to be the best they can be.

What drives you to keep training?

Karate is a way of life for me now and it is my family

What other sports do you do/have you done?

Netball, hockey, tennis, springboard diving, cricket, rounders and football

Who do you know that is still training from when you started?

Helen and Harry Harvey, Stef Barns, Janice Brown and Nina Hall

What advice would you give to someone who wishes to start karate now?

Do it! However young or old you are, give it a go.

What are your future goals & hopes?

To get my 2nd Dan and to train for as long as I can

How often do you train?

Between 1 and 3 times a week.

What challenges have you overcome?

I had an ankle injury for nearly 2 years. Also fitting everything in and still finding time to train.

What is your favourite kick?

Double round kick

What is your favourite hyung / kata?


What is your favourite fighting move or technique?

Blocking a punch and then a side sick attack

What is your top tip for others?

Keep training. If you want it enough you'll get it.

What is the best piece of advice you have received?

When you go into the black belt grading, show all the Dan grades on the panel that you are not leaving that room without a black belt!
