Why did you start training?

A friend across the road heard about a new karate club opening in Needham market so I decided to go along with them and join in. My friend stopped but I didn’t!

Who inspires you?

Various athletes.

What drives you to keep training?

The fear of getting fat!!! (but wouldn’t stop training as I love so much)

What other sports do you do/have you done?

I love sport and will have ago at most.

What advice would you give to someone who wishes to start karate now?

Come and join us!! Once you start don’t give up!

What age did you start karate?

13 years old, with EKKA 19yrs old (I think!)

What are your future goals & hopes?

To be the first female 4th Dan - unless Sonia Beattie beats me to it first - in that case the 2nd female.

How often do you train?

Karate twice a week and run once a week.

What challenges have you overcome?

Having young children and still managing to train and maintain a good standard (although I’m always looking to improve myself!) Running.

What is your favourite kick?

I love jump kicks but a nice quick heel kick to the head or round kick round the chops is just as good

Chil jang

What is your favourite fighting move or technique?

One that scores 3 points and wow’s the crowd!

What drives you to keep training?

The fear of getting fat!!! (losing good friends)

What is your top tip for others?

If your not in it you can’t win it!!

What is the best piece of advice you have received?

Before taking my black belt someone said ‘what’s the worst thing that can happen? You’ll come out with the same coloured belt you went in with! (so true but I wasn’t going to let that happen!
