How long have you been training?

About 5 years.

How long have you had your black belt?

3 weeks and 1 day!

When did you get your black belt?

At 11 years old.

Who was your first instructor?

Billy Brennan

Why did you start training?

I had quit football and beavers and was looking for a new club to join. My mum found a leaflet in the newsletter so i went along and gave it a go.

Who inspires you?

Different people inspire me in different ways, but it would have to be Billy Brennan and Mick Blackwell. They have both achieved fantastic results and put so much commitment in karate. One day I hope I can do as well as them.

What drives you to keep training?

I have just achieved my black belt so there is so much more to learn. I just enjoy it too!

What other sports do you do/have you done?

I have done basketball and football.

who do you know who is still training from when you started?

Wendy & Steve Jowett, Andy & Ben Cornish and very few others.

What advice would you give to someone who wanted to start karate now?

It doesn't matter if you're not as good as the others, just make sure you are doing the best you can do. Believe in yourself.

What age did you start karate?

6 years old.

what are your future goals & hopes?

To become as good as some of the people who inspire me and become an instructor.

How often do you train?

Two times a week, an hour a session.

What challenges have you overcome?

To get my black belt.

What is your favourite kick?

Step round kick.

What is your favourite hyung/kata?

Korean kata: Koryo

What is your favourite fighting move or technique?

I don't really have a favourite.

What is you top tip to others?

Try your hardest and never give up. Also, believe that you can do it.

What is the best piece of advice you've been given?

Don't stop, keep going and never give up.
