Fight club every first Thursday of the month 6-7pm in Hadleigh at The Ansell Centre small hall

When did you get your black belt?

April fools day 2007!

Who was your first instructor?

Jan Strzelec

Why did you start training?

For self defence and to increase my confidences

Who inspires you?

All the senior grades also Mr Miagi and Jackie Chan!

What drives you to keep training?

Loads! The constant want to get better, the friends have made and because it is part of my life.

What other sports do you do/have you done?

I did judo when I was younger and every type of dancing from ballet to tap to cha cha and Jive.

Who do you know that is still training from when you started?

All of my instructors, but very few others.

What advice would you give to someone who wishes to start karate now?

Give it a try. It could change your life in more ways than you know.

What age did you start karate?


What are you future hopes and goals?

I’d love to get my get my own classes started and teach people what I have learnt.

How often do you train?

3-4 times a week.

What is your favourite kick?

One that scores me 3 points!

What is you favourite kata?

As a white belt I used to watch the 1st kyus and black belts doing Koryo and I was desperate to learn it - so it has to be that one!

What is your favourite fight move to technique?

I can’t tell you that or you would know what to look out for!

What is you top tip for others?

Always train harder than you did the lesson before.

What is the best piece of advice you have received?

At gradings everyone is on your side and want you to pass and are routing for you (Michel Tester)
