Known for exemplary standards and a family-friendly approach to teaching, Arena Karate Academy has clubs throughout Suffolk, providing high-quality karate instruction delivered by experienced black belt instructors.

Founded in October 1975 by Billy Brennan, Arena Karate Hadleigh is one of the longest continuously operating karate clubs in Suffolk, with over 50 years of teaching excellence. The club has a strong tradition of producing skilled martial artists and black belts who compete successfully at national and international levels.
Since 2012, Renshi Stefanie Barnes (5th Dan) has led Arena Hadleigh, bringing decades of experience in karate, Kyūjūtsu, kickboxing, and nunchucks. She has also expanded the network by establishing Arena Coggeshall in 2017.
The Arena Karate network continues to grow, including:
Arena Hadleigh – led by Stefanie Barnes, supported by Chris Hodgkinson and Jamie Hodgkinson
Arena Coggeshall – run by Stefanie Barnes and Stuart Collier
Arena Tattingstone – run by Andy Cornish, alongside Jan Strzelec and Mark Stringer
Across all clubs, we maintain the same core values: confidence, discipline, respect, and personal development for students of all ages and abilities.
Arena Karate provides a safe, structured, and supportive environment where students can develop their skills, improve fitness, and become part of a strong and welcoming community.
