CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL STUDENTS WHO PASSED THEIR GRADING ON SUNDAY 19TH APRIL 2026
Karate is made up of three important parts that work together.
Just like a tree, Karate needs strong roots, a strong trunk, and healthy leaves to grow.
These three parts are called:
Kihon – The Roots
Kata – The Trunk
Kumite – The Leaves
Kihon means the basics.
This is where students learn:
Stances
Punches, blocks, and kicks
Balance and posture
Focus and discipline
Just like roots hold a tree in place, Kihon helps students stay strong and steady.
Strong basics help everything else work better.
Kata is a set pattern of movements.
It helps students:
Link techniques together
Learn balance and timing
Move with control and confidence
The trunk holds the tree upright.
Kata helps students understand how Karate fits together.
Kata teaches us how to move correctly.
Kumite is training with a partner.
It helps students:
Learn distance and timing
Stay calm and respectful
Use control and awareness
Leaves show how healthy a tree is.
Kumite shows how well students are learning Karate.
Kumite is about learning, not winning.
All three parts are important:
Basics make us strong
Kata helps us understand
Kumite helps us practise safely
When they are trained together, students improve step by step.
Strong roots make a strong tree.
Strong basics make strong Karate.
