CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE ARENA STUDENTS WHO COMPETED TODAY! BETWEEN YOU ALL, YOU BROUGHT HOME 27 MEDAL!
Leonard began his martial arts journey just over a year ago after watching his older sister, Lacie-Mae, train and compete. Inspired by her dedication and achievements, he decided to give karate a try for himself—and quickly discovered how much he enjoyed it.
Currently a 12th Kyu (White-Black Belt), Leonard has embraced training and competition with plenty of enthusiasm. One of the things he enjoys most about karate is spending time with his friends, both in the dojo and at competitions, where he loves being part of the team atmosphere.
Karate has become a family affair for the Rose family, with Leonard and his sister Lacie-Mae both training, competing and supporting one another as members of the Arena Competition Squad.
When asked what he enjoys most about being part of Arena Karate, Leonard's answer was simple:
"Having loads of fun."
Looking ahead, Leonard is excited to continue progressing through the grades, collecting more medals and gaining even more competition experience as his karate journey continues.
Away from karate, Leonard enjoys playing football and is a proud member of his local football team. Whether on the pitch or on the mats, he enjoys being active, learning new skills and working as part of a team.
If he could give one piece of advice to someone thinking about entering their first competition, Leonard keeps it short and simple:
"You can do it."
When asked who has been his biggest supporters throughout his martial arts journey, Leonard was quick to recognise the people who are always cheering him on:
"My mum, my sister and my friends in the dojo."
What does karate mean to Leonard?
"Making new friends."
